The VIN is also often located on the door or engine. It is also shown on your vehicle title and insurance documents.
  
  
• Know your vehicle history − If you are not the original owner, it's worthwhile to run a vehicle history report. Make sure that any branded title or history of the vehicle (such as Flood or Salvage) is appropriately disclosed in the description. Even if you've got a current clean title, if there was a salvage title in the history, you must disclose it to buyers.
  
  
• Review the applicable laws for both your state and the state of your trading partner −These include seller licensing rules, title requirements, emissions standards and registration policies. Based on the physical location of the buyer or the seller, state consumer protection laws may apply to your transaction on eBay Motors and may limit what you can legally sell.
